Q: What is your return policy?

A: All sales are final. All shipments will be replaced promptly at our cost if lost/broken or leaking during shipment. However we cannot offer replacements or refunds for any other reason. Any unauthorized returns will not be accepted. 

Q: What is your shipping policy?

A: We normally ship via UPS Ground, USPS Priority Mail, or USPS Standard Post. We will choose one of these methods unless you specifically request one of these, or another method. We can also ship by USPS Express Mail, or any faster UPS option like 2-day or overnight. For international orders we typically ship by USPS Priority International - please indicate if you have a preference. Please note that a few of our FOs and EOs cannot be sent by any air service (or internationally) due to their low flashpoints. These are noted in their descriptions in our catalog. The list of ground-only scents includes Berries Jubilee, China Rain, Citrus Splash, Cornucopia, Tuscan Wine (FOs); and Eucalyptus, Fir Needle, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Marjoram, Orange, Rosemary, Tangerine, and Tea Tree (EOs). 

Q: How does the flat shipping work?

A: Any order of any size will be shipped for $9.95 in the 48 contiguous United States. The order will go whichever way is cheaper: UPS ground or USPS Priority Mail (although if you'd like it the other way, we can just add the difference in price to your bill). For other faster shipping methods you would pay the actual shipping charges. Customers outside of the 48 states will pay the actual shipping charges; normally these orders go by USPS Priority Mail. In any case, we are happy to give a shipping quote before you order. 

Q. I just placed an order and need to make changes - what do I do?

A. Orders are filled all day long. We have a very fast turnaround time. If you need to make a change call us immediately at 518.632.4802 after placing your order. We cannot make changes to orders the next day unless the order has not already shipped. 

Q. What happens if I bounce a check?

A. If your check is returned to us for insufficient funds - you will be assessed a $25 bounced check fee in addition to the original check charge.

Q: How do you test your scents?

A: We request samples from various manufacturers and then make a batch of soap to test. We use a sunflower, palm kernel and coconut oil base and mix temps at around 100 degrees. If the scent survives the making of the soap without seizing or other problems, it then sits on our shelf for several months to test the staying power. After it passes those tests, we then purchase a larger amount.

Q: Do you sell by weight or volume?

A. All scents (FOs and EOs), most liquid base oils, and the small 1/4 cup size of all colorants are sold by volume (in fluid ounces, pints, quarts, gallons, etc). All other products, including colorant sizes 4oz and up, are sold by weight (ounces, pounds).

Q: Who do you buy your products from?

A: We put a lot of time and work into searching out great scents. That is the basis of our business, so we certainly can't give out that information. For fragrance and essential oils, we currently purchase from eight different manufacturers. All of these are reputable, responsible companies who follow RIFM and IFRA safety and health guidelines.

Q: Are fragrance oils totally synthetic?

A: Not always. Most fragrance oils have natural components like essential oils as components. These are combined with synthetic aroma compounds and usually a solvent to prevent separation of the various components.

Q: What does cosmetic grade mean?

A: Cosmetic grade colorants or scents mean that they are formulated to be used in bath and toiletries products using RIFM standards. That is why you don't want to use a candle scent for a skin product unless you know for sure that it is approved for cosmetic use as well. Non-skin formulations often have ingredients which are not suitable for bath and body products. With that said, you should not use fragrance or essential oils directly on your skin, but dilute them in a carrier oil, or add them to your preparations.

Q: I purchased a scent and decided this fragrance is not "me". Can I return it?

A: We do not accept returns or refunds unless a product is damaged. Everyone smells scents differently, so what you may not like, another person loves! Even though we test our scents, we cannot guarantee that they will work for you - you should test them in your specific formulation. We encourage purchasing scents in our smaller sizes for testing purposes.

Q: Do you have a location I can visit?

A: We no longer have a store in which you can browse, but we can accept pick-up orders or visitors by appointment at 298 Ridge St, Glens Falls, NY 12801.
